When Anne Coulter recently called John Edwards a faggot, it reaffirmed two ideas I hold. One, is that the world of politics is fill of more drama-for-yo-mama bullshit than your average high school. The other – that Washington DC is exactly like Hollywood in that it’s full of gossip and hearsay, tabloids and rumors – the only difference is DC is full of ugly people, and the things they say can actually affect people. In the Coulter/Edwards saga, the latter is only half true, because I think John’s a pretty good looking guy, dare I say, even handsome. Oops, does that make me a faggot, Anne?
There are only two places I have seen this kind of behavior other than in politics. One, of course, is Hollywood. The other – is on a fucking elementary school playground! “You’re stupid! No you’re stupid and ugly! No, you’re a faggot! I know what you are but what am I?” Gladly Edwards was the bigger man, and didn’t swap back with a comment of his own, sorta. On John’s website, he’s used Coulter’s childish attitude to try and make a buck for himself. Way to cash-in, John!
Does anyone remember the Donald Trump & Rosie O’Donnell drama in December? Trump had this Ms. America bullshit going for him. Turns out Ms. America was a slutty drug-abuser, but she’s hot, so the Donald gave her a second chance. This pissed off Rosie, who’s apparently masochistic enough to watch the Ms. America competition, and she tossed a few names at him including “snake-oil salesman.” Then Trump unleashed his fury! The only difference between this Trump/O’Donnell nonsense, and Anne Coulter’s slander, is that John didn’t do anything to deserve such an attack.
It all gets me so fucking angry. But my good friend Henry Rollins is always around to make things right again.
